The Big Diesel is motoring to Miami carrying excess baggage with lots of hardware. Shaq is a three-time NBA Finals MVP with three championship rings (2000-02), a regular-season MVP (2000), an 11-time All-Star, Rookie of the Year, a two-time scoring champion (1995, 2000) and was selected as one of the NBA's all-time top 50 players in 1996.
Although a chronic toe injury, some excess pounds and his constant spats with Kobe Bryant have caused his numbers to diminish in recent years, O'Neal still led the league in field-goal percentage (58.4 percent) this season while averaging 21.5 points and 11.5 rebounds.
If he comes to Miami with a chip on his shoulder because of the Lakers apparent preference to keep Bryant instead of him, watch out. His penchant for bricking free throws is legendary, but he can make up for it by dominating the smaller centers in the Eastern Conference.
O'Neal will draw double teams and that will free up Eddie Jones and Rasual Butler to hit open shots from the perimeter, but most of all, the future looks bright with O'Neal teaming up with Wade, a Bryant-Michael Jordan composite, and AmericanAirlines Arena should be rocking.
